With a conventional LED strip, light uniformity is limited along the length of the strip, and light intensity drops drastically at the ends, limiting its usable length to sometimes as little as half the advertised length.

The result: defects are missed where uniformity is not optimal, and it is not possible to use the entire length of the strip. The workaround? Using longer strips and more opaque diffusers, which increases the cost and bulk of such a system without any guarantee of high-quality results.
